G194: Preparing For Post-Disaster Responsibilities Course
January 15, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Description: This course is designed to familiarize the participants with the elements of pre-disaster planning needed to prepare for substantial damage operations. Substantial damage applies to a structure in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) – or 1-percent-annual-chance floodplain – for which the total cost of repairs is 50 percent or more of the structure’s market value before the disaster occurred, regardless of the cause of damage.
Course topics include: Identifying partners and resources; creating post-disaster standard operating procedures (SOPs); outline steps that should take place post-disaster to carry out substantial damage assessments; describe possible methods to obtain compliance with substantial damage determinations; and review possible sources of funding that can assist with post-disaster substantial losses. This course has in-depth discussion of the topics and exercises to help floodplain managers prepare for post-disaster activities.
Target Audience: Local floodplain managers and other local officials with the responsibility of completing damage assessments (assessor’s office, public works, building inspectors, planners, etc.) are strongly encouraged to attend. Emergency managers and recovery staff would also benefit.
Register: Registration will be through https://www.train.org/colorado/. Course ID # 1079686.
