Book Club – Serving Our Communities Through Learning

Our club has a virtual meeting on the first Tuesday of each month where we discuss books, podcasts, articles, or other media the members are interested in. On average, we cover four books a year, one for each quarter. The topics covered to date range from leadership, self-improvement, history of water in the west, equity in our communities, social justice, our responsibility as public servants, and organizational psychology. All types of readers are welcome, even those who don’t have time to read but want to participate in meaningful conversations about career growth, personal development, and community service.

Prospective members can join any time and the only fees to join are the cost of the book (free through your local library) and a desire to learn and grow. To join, you can email co-chairs Brenna Wood (Brenna.wood@kimley-horn.com) and Frans Lambrechtsen (frans.lambrechtsen@kimley-horn.com) to get added to the distribution list and meeting invite.

CASFM Book Club has selected Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez as our third read of 2024.

We will discuss the introduction through Part III on Tuesday, November 5th, and we’ll discuss Part IV through the conclusion on Tuesday, December 3rd.

Whether you’ve done all the reading or none, you’re always welcome at book club. Happy reading!
