CASFM Comments on the CRS

The CASFM CRS Committee solicited comments from members concerning the CRS program. These comments were compiled and discussed at several committee meetings. The comments were approved by the CASFM Board in September 2008 and the final version of the comments was sent to the CRS Task Force on October 24, 2008. Read the CASFM CRS Comment Letter Here. ASFPM also sent suggestions to the CRS Task Force.  Read the  ASFPM CRS Suggestions here.

Previous Training Information

The Elevation Certificate/Flood Insurance Workshop was held Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the City of Aurora.  The FEMA Elevation Certificate (EC) is an important administrative tool of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that is used by floodplain administrators, insurance agents, land surveyors, consulting engineers, CRS coordinators, and other government officials. The EC provides elevation information to ensure building compliance in the floodplain, to determine proper flood insurance premiums, and supports FEMA map change requests for Letters of Map Amendment (LOMA) and Letters of Map Revision based on Fill (LOMR-F). This workshop will provide an overview of the EC, how it’s utilized by the various users, and upcoming changes to the form. Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) continuing education credit will be offered.

The Intro to CRS Workshop held in Longmont, CO on November 12, 2008 was a huge success.  French Wetmore and Kerry Redente gave a great overview of the CRS program.  Local communities also shared information on their programs and offered examples of outreach activities.  Slides from the Workshop presentations are posted below:
